26/05: Dada messaged early in the morning that Dodo is no more. He decided to end his own life.

This is terrible. So sad. The eldest person in the family goes out on his own. Given that suicide is not honorable in our society, his death will be considered as disgrace. Probably society has reasons to treat it that way, but is it really cowardly?

Dodo (my father's elder brother) was old, probably around 75. He was frail, had difficulty in walking, seeing and hearing. But his mind was sound. Every time I meet him, he could remember that I live in Dubai. He would rub my head and bless me. Not that he was a person of very high social standing, but he was everyone's beloved 'old man' in the village. He used to drop in any random house and have breakfast or lunch there.

He had some medical problem which I dont know exactly, but he did manage to walk around 2 kms form his home to mine. So why such a person committed suicide? My guess is as good as yours. This has really saddened me, makes me think what really went inside his mind.

Although he didn't exactly enjoy luxurious care, his two sons did cater him with lunch and dinner. He was getting by. And he himself was somebody who didn't have any great expectations. And still he committed suicide.

There is no good answers that anyone of us can get. He even wrote a note that nobody is responsible for his death. But then, he didn't say why he did it.
